Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC) is a full-service health clinic staffed with physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and trained healthcare professionals available to see you for your primary health care needs.
Keeping campus healthy. We understand the unique needs of students – things like offering more same-day and next-day appointments than traditional family practice clinics.
In addition, we’re here to support your success whether than means finding a translator to help you better understand your medical condition or just helping to translate the Cy-Ride bus system!
With a state-of-the-art laboratory and digital x-ray right here in the clinic, we’re able to treat a variety of illness and injury right here on campus. In addition, we have a physical therapy department right upstairs and a pharmacy as you walk out the door. We’re a one-stop-shop for students who don’t have time to be sick!
Our healthcare providers and staff provide an inclusive, non-judgmental environment for our diverse student body and absolutely guarantee your privacy when it comes to your health diagnosis and medical treatment plan.

If you have a question or concern about your health, Student Health offers free, confidential advice to students. A registered nurse is available during open hours to answer your questions and give you self-care tips, medical tips and non-judgmental advice on whether you need to schedule an appointment. Just call (515) 294-5801 and ask to speak to one of our nurses! If one is not readily available, we can call you back at a time that’s convenient for you.

Making Appointments
If you know you need to be seen by healthcare professional, call (515) 294-5801 to make an appointment with one of our providers today. You can either choose to have the same provider every time you visit, just like you do at home, or you can ask for the first-available appointment. Whichever you choose, we’ll do our best to accommodate your busy schedule and work with you to get an appointment that meets your needs.
Urgent Care & Emergency Services
If you have an emergency situation medical situation, it’s always best to call 911.
If you’re not sure though, Student Health provides free, 24-7 medical advice over the phone. Just call (515) 294-5801 and a registered nurse will help you decide how urgent it is for you to be seen by a provider.
If you need non-emergency services outside of our normal business hours, you can visit McFarland Clinic After Hours Care, or McFarland Express Care.
If you need emergency services, call 911 or visit the Mary Greeley Medical Center’s Emergency Room.
